    Credibility 3.2 Stars

Using guarantees is a great idea to get the user’s attention. The homepage shows some awards and licenses at the bottom. Showing customer reviews on a dedicated page is good. They should highlight the best ones on the top of the homepage too.

Website Rating: 3.6

What we like 🚀

With multiple CTAs, the website gives a contact option for everyone’s needs. They have a “Request Service” button, coupons, and a phone number on the website’s header. Additionally, they also have a live chat that pops up. The contact form on the website is simple and easy to fill out.

What could be improved 💡

The website needs to publish content more frequently. Targeting local keywords and optimizing blog posts for SEO can get them to rank higher and increase organic traffic.

  • Content & SEO
    Content & SEO 4.3 Stars

The blog is regularly updated with videos and blog posts. Plus, the website has pages with helpful tips, FAQs, and financing. The contact page shows a map which is a great way to boost local SEO.

  • Call to Action
    Call to Action 3.9 Stars

Straightforward CTAs: phone number, contact, and request service buttons that guide to lead forms are throughout the website. They have an “sticky” phone number and request service button, but their branding is a bit off and needs to be redone to make them standout.

  • Credibility
    Credibility 2.9 Stars

The homepage has text like “over 20 years of experience” and “team of skilled professionals” and an eye-catching “Customers love us” button to prompt visitors to click and read reviews.

Website Rating: 3.8

What we like 🚀

Using videos in the blog section is a great way to boost organic visibility. We also liked the neatly designed footer. It has a Google rating box, local address, contact buttons, and social media links.

What could be improved 💡

They have many customer reviews, but first-time visitors won’t know without clicking on the reviews page. They could remove the unnecessary step by showcasing reviews directly on the homepage.

  • Credibility
    Credibility 3.9 Stars

The homepage includes various credibility elements like “30+ years of experience,” awards, customer reviews, etc., to position themselves as experts. The footer appears on all pages below the lead form and displays a work authorization license, 24/7 emergency service, and an award.

Website Rating: 4.1

What we like 🚀

We liked how they played with different CTAs. The “Contact us Today” button on the hero section is the first thing visitors will see. The “View Specials” and “Schedule Service” buttons with hover effects are also nice.

The best part is their referral program, which helps them get more leads.

What could be improved 💡

Bardi has impressive credibility elements but only at the bottom of the pages, where most visitors don’t scroll. They should move these elements to the top of the pages to increase conversion.

4. Command Comfort

Command Comfort

Command Comfort is an HVAC business serving major cities of California like Tustin, Costa Mesa, Irvine, etc. Services include air conditioning, indoor air quality, heating, and maintenance.

  • Website Design
    Website Design 4.0 Stars

Balancing three brand colors (orange, blue, and red) with white throughout the website to add a standout effect on CTAs is a great design strategy. Many images, icons, and videos make the pages more attractive.

  • Content & SEO
    Content & SEO 2.6 Stars

Blog posts are well-written with proper formatting and SEO, but the non-white background makes them appear busy. They have a YouTube channel, but it’s inactive.

  • Call to Action
    Call to Action 3.3 Stars

There’s a phone number and “Schedule Service” button in bold and many CTAs throughout the website, including exclusive deals, virtual estimates, quizzes, and buttons leading to service pages. The website has a free zip code lead form on all service pages.

  • Credibility
    Credibility 2.9 Stars

The website has no credibility-building elements except a “View Google Reviews” button at the bottom. However, they do showcase a “Lifetime warranty” to build trust.

Website Rating: 3.2

What we like 🚀

The “Deals Done Right” section is well done, showcasing the top three deals, and if the visitors don’t like any, the “See More Deals” button presents more options. The interactive lead form is a great way for users to schedule service.

What could be improved 💡

There’s a newsletter sign-up form at the bottom of the site (which is excellent for collecting more leads!), but it should also be added to all the blog posts to increase email signups.

5. Tip Top HVAC

Tip Top HVAC

Tip Top HVAC offers heating and air conditioning services in Beverly Hills, California. This  includes installing, cleaning, repairing, and maintaining systems.

  • Website Design
    Website Design 2.7 Stars

The website design is generic, and the blue and white combination gets a little boring as you scroll through pages. The design could use an additional color to make things pop.

  • Content & SEO
    Content & SEO 2.3 Stars

Although the website is mobile-friendly, it doesn’t have a blog. The about and other services pages are templatized. This website could benefit from adding better content that is optimized and visually appealing.

  • Call to Action
    Call to Action 3.0 Stars

The website has two types of CTAs: Call and “Contact” buttons. At the bottom of all pages, there’s a simple contact form. But none of their CTAs stand out.

  • Credibility
    Credibility 3.2 Stars

The website presents users with a few credibility factors: “20+ years of experience” and client testimonials.

Website Rating: 2.8

What we like 🚀

We really like the “why choose us” section on the homepage. This clearly shows why customers should consider their company. There are decent calls-to-action throughout but they could standout more.

What could be improved 💡

We’d like to see the testimonials moved up from the bottom of pages. The locations link in the footer is not linked to a page. The contact page could be improved to be more visually appealing and entice users to contact them.

6. Goettl

Goettl

Goettl is recognized for excellence in heating, air conditioning, and plumbing. They carry on the legacy of quality and reliability started by their founders in 1939.

  • Content & SEO
    Content & SEO 4.1 Stars

The content is well written and easy to read. The blog section is clean, with title tags properly optimized for SEO and conclusions ending with CTAs. The articles are divided into different categories for easy navigation. The locations page helps for local SEO allowing each service areas to have its own page optimized for the region. They include an SEO optimized page for each service which is a great way to target more keywords.

  • Call to Action
    Call to Action 2.8 Stars

The website has decent call to action with a sticky header and book now button on the top of all pages. The pages could benefit from having lead forms on them.

  • Credibility
    Credibility 2.1 Stars

The Google reviews are on the bottom of pages and should be moved up. The large testimonials graphic is good but could be improved.

Website Rating: 3.3

What we like 🚀

The site has a nice design flow and lots of good information. The blog and service pages are optimized for SEO. Offering a maintenance membership option for a small monthly fee is a great way to retain your customers longer. The best part is the Smart Sadie app, which allows users to monitor their HVAC remotely.

What could be improved 💡

When you scroll down pages the sticky header logo is not linked to the homepage and the entire navigation bar disappears. You can only find the lead form on the Contact page. We recommend including it at least once on all service pages to collect leads. On the blog page you cannot click the blog post titles to read the post, they should be linked.

7. Service Champions

Service Champions

Service Champions is a full-service HVAC company that has a team of certified technicians, dedicated to providing the highest quality service, from routine HVAC  maintenance to complex repairs.

  • Website Design
    Website Design 3.3 Stars

When you first land on the website three things pop-up immediately. This is a major turn off and makes visitors want to leave. Overall the website design is clean but the inner pages could use some nicer designs. The header graphics on the pages really standout and present strong value to website visitors.

  • Content & SEO
    Content & SEO 3.7 Stars

The service pages are not well optimized for SEO, they are lacking proper H tags and content structure. The blog / news section could include better written content. We like that they have a service areas page with individual city pages targeting local keywords.

  • Call to Action
    Call to Action 4.1 Stars

This website has good call-to-action throughout the pages. As mentioned previously, it is almost a little too much. The live chat widget is visually appealing and grabs visitors attention.

  • Credibility
    Credibility 3.9 Stars

Showing there total google reviews and star rating in the header is a great idea. They showcase the number of clients served, reviews and licensed technicians which really shows their credibility. It would be great if they had a reviews page listed in the main navigation, people wont realize they can click the google logo in the header to get to the reviews page.

Website Rating: 3.7

What we like 🚀

We really like the hero banners on the headers of all pages. They are designed well and present website visitors with value. The red, white and blue branding just works for an HVAC company. Having detailed service pages are a great way to showcase the capabilities.

What could be improved 💡

Turn off all the pop-ups! Way too many things fly at you when you first land on the website. Additionally, one of the pop-ups was not designed very well which turned us off. We would like to see a reviews page linked from the navigation and the lead forms should have the amount of fields reduced. We would also like to see the service pages designed to be more visually appealing, they currently look like they where created for SEO only.

8. RS Mechanical

RS Mechanical

R & S Mechanical, has over 200 years of combined experience and are focused on helping customers with reliable and helpful HVAC services.

  • Website Design
    Website Design 3.6 Stars

The hero slider on the homepage is designed well and really draws you into the website. The pictures of the employees with branded shirts is great. The inner page designs could be changed to have more visuals and not so much text. Overall, this HVAC website design is nice but could use some adjustments to take it over the top.

  • Content & SEO
    Content & SEO 3.0 Stars

This website has good on-page SEO but we did notice the homepage has two H1 titles. Its best to always only have a single H1 title on a page. The backlink profile for this website could be improved it has a DA of 27 and most backlinks are nofollow. There are some usability issues on different devices and the PageSpeed score is low for mobile devices.

  • Call to Action
    Call to Action 4.1 Stars

This is the first website to have a lead form on the top of the homepage. This is highly recommended and will result in more leads. The 24/7 emergency service graphic in the header lets people know they can contact them anytime. The lead form on the contact page is a bit lengthy and could have some fields removed. The live chat feature is nice and doesn't jump out at you.

  • Credibility
    Credibility 2.9 Stars

The site does have a reviews link in the main navigation which is always a good idea. The logos / brands are presented to low on the homepage and should be part of the hero slider. They have over 2,000 reviews but you wouldn't know unless you scrolled to the bottom.

Website Rating: 3.4

What we like 🚀

The hero slider on the homepage is well-designed and visually appealing. It effectively captures the user’s attention and has a lead form. The pictures of employees in branded shirts are a great addition to the HVAC website.

What could be improved 💡

The website exhibits good on-page SEO, but it should address the issue of having two H1 titles on the homepage. While the overall website design is nice, there’s room for improvement by incorporating more visuals and reducing text on inner pages. Reviews should be more prominently displayed on the website.

9. Quality Cooling & Heating

Quality Cooling & Heating

Quality Cooling & Heating, is a locally owned and operated HVAC company that is built around delivering exceptional service and quality products.

  • Website Design
    Website Design 4.4 Stars

This HVAC website has a very nice design. The branded pictures of people and work trucks gives the website a polished feeling. The sticky header makes it easy to navigate the website and find what you are looking for.

  • Content & SEO
    Content & SEO 4.0 Stars

The blog has well written articles and the articles are optimized for SEO. The website includes a service areas page which is great but the local SEO pages are lacking in content. All pages have proper H tags and SEO structure. Some images on the website are missing ALT tags. On the technical side some of the files are not minified and there are too many requests on a single page. The website does have a good PageSpeed score.

  • Call to Action
    Call to Action 4.8 Stars

This HVAC website has great call-to-action, there are multiple ways for users to contact the company. The Sticky header has large bold buttons and there is a live chat feature. The book online feature is nice but it does take some effort to actually book an appointment. The contact page form has some unnecessary fields and could be shorter.

  • Credibility
    Credibility 3.9 Stars

A big and bold "Read Our Reviews" button is in the header of the website. The site has a reviews page with over 1,000 customer reviews. The company is BBB rated but the logo could be shown in a more prominent placement on the website.

Website Rating: 4.3

What we like 🚀

The website boasts an attractive design with branded images of employees and work trucks, giving it a polished appearance. Proper H tags and SEO structure are maintained across the pages. The website excels in its call-to-action elements, providing various ways for users to contact the company.

What could be improved 💡

Local SEO pages need to be improved with more content. Addressing missing ALT tags for images, optimizing files for minification, and reducing excessive requests can enhance the technical aspects of the website. While the website offers multiple contact options, the “book online” feature could be more user-friendly. The contact page’s form should be streamlined by removing unnecessary fields to simplify the contact process.

10. Altruistic AC & Heating

Altruistic AC & Heating

Altruistic AC & Heating is a locally owned boutique HVAC company that provides high touch heating, air conditioning, and indoor air quality services across the Austin area.

  • Website Design
    Website Design 4.1 Stars

This HVAC website has a simple modern and clean looking design. The color palette used is very pleasing and calming. The service pages have really nice illustrations on the page headers. The typography and layout of the pages are done professionally and make the website easy to browse.

  • Content & SEO
    Content & SEO 2.4 Stars

The content and SEO of this website is good but we see a few issues that could be fixed. Meta descriptions are missing keywords. Two H1 tags where found on a single page. Some images have no ALT tags. Javascript and CSS files should be minified. The site does have a service areas page with local SEO pages connected. The blog content does not match the same style as the website and this should be changed to create consistency across the pages. Some hyperlinks on pages link to other websites like SEM Rush and Google and they should not.

  • Call to Action
    Call to Action 3.8 Stars

The call-to-action on this website could be better. While the website does have a "Book Now" button on the header the phone number disappears when you scroll down. The book now process is a little lengthy and could be easier to complete. The contact page form is simple and easy to complete.

  • Credibility
    Credibility 2.5 Stars

We like that they have Google reviews slider on the top of the homepage. The website should also have a reviews page and include the reviews slider on the inner pages. Since the reviews are only on the homepage users may never see it if they enter the site from an inner page. The company is BBB rated but the logo is on the footer and should be moved up on all pages.

Website Rating: 3.2

What we like 🚀

We like the use of illustrations on the service pages it really enhances the visual appeal. Not many websites nail the typography but this HVAC website has great typography.

What could be improved 💡

The website maintains good content and SEO practices, but there are areas for improvement. The issues that need to be addressed, include missing keywords in meta descriptions, multiple H1 tags on a page, and missing ALT tags for images. Technical optimizations like minifying Javascript and CSS files are needed. External links to other websites should be removed.

Checklist for your HVAC website design

HVAC Website Design Checklist

Based on the results after analyzing the above HVAC website designs, we’ve prepared a checklist you can use to make sure you’re following the best website design practices.

1. Website design

  • Make sure your website has a professional design and avoid using website templates or cookie cutter themes.
  • Always use a sticky header and have clear call-to-action options in the header.
  • Use images, icons, interactive features, and motion effects to make your website more engaging.
  • Make sure your website looks good on mobile devices and desktop computers.
2. Content & SEO
  • Always double check your website for SEO technical issues and make sure your PageSpeed score is 70 or higher.
  • Include a blog on your HVAC website and make sure to post a minimum of one blog post per month.
  • If you have the ability to create video content we highly recommend it.
  • Include a service areas page and local SEO pages that are well written and optimized.
3. Call-to-action
  • Call-to-action is much more than just have buttons to contact you. Create CTAs that drive action by offering some sort of value to the user taking the action. For example you could say “contact us for an estimate and get a FREE HVAC system inspection”.
  • If you are going to have pop-ups and chatbots make sure they are not intrusive and annoying.
  • Keep your contact forms to the least amount of fields as possible. You really only need a persons name, and phone number to generate a lead. You can get the other information on the first call. We understand you want more information to qualify a lead but its not really needed, is it? You will get more leads with shorter lead forms.
4. Credibility
  • In todays digital world, customer reviews are a must have. This means you should make sure your reviews or the reviews count and rating is above the fold and visible without having to scroll.
  • While reviews are great, make sure to include industry certifications, licensing information, and warranty details to present more credibility.
  •  If you can get video testimonials from customers we highly recommend adding them to your HVAC website.
  • Show the logos of popular brands and products your company uses. This will give your company more cred.

How to choose an HVAC website designer?

The goal of any HVAC website is to generate leads and present the company as a professional service provider. There are a few things to consider when hiring an HVAC website designer to create your website.

Choose a HVAC Website Designer
1. Capability

Does the website designer have the capability to create a website that aligns with your goals and objectives. Aside from the design aspect of your website make sure they have the technical capabilities too. Always ask for examples of their work and spend  time reviewing the websites in detail.

2. Reliability

If you hire a professional HVAC website designer you need to make sure you can rely on them to get the job done. Ask them about there process and what are the steps involved in getting your new website up and running. Make sure you have clear expectations on the timeline and what you will be required to provide.

2. Cost

You get what you pay for applies to web design the same as it does to HVAC services. If a web designers price is too good to be true, be careful, you may not end up with the HVAC website you expected. Make sure to speak with 3 or more website design companies and get proposals from all of them. If someone is offering you a professional website for under a few thousand dollars they probably don’t do great work! You should expect to pay between $3,000 to $15,000 for a great HVAC website. Pricing varies based on the scope of your project. At all costs, avoid services that promise a website, marketing and social media for a low monthly price.
